Red Fountain’s prodigy in magic. No other student in recent memory has shown such an innate talent for magic, already earning himself the right to be called a wizard. More so, Valerian doesn’t just come from common stock, his is a criminal background. Raised and loyal to the pirates of the North Wind. That he doesn’t care for idle chatter or forcing a smile doesn’t help his image.[break][break]
His talent is in the conjuring and manipulation of blue fire. Odd for a pirate. He makes up for it though with being a skilled sharpshooter and having dexterous fingers.[break][break]

He’s not the easiest to approach. Aloof, insensitive – even mean on a bad day. Valerian does not wear his heart upon his sleeve. But he also has his reasons. It’s difficult to trust, to even want anyone close when you don’t know who you are – or what you are. Were he to have any friends they would purposefully be few in number.[break][break]
And low maintenance. For although Valerian’s physique is quite ripped, what he actually enjoys doing in his spare time is quite subdued. Reading, for instance. He’s rarely ever without some form of a book in hand.[break][break]

People will think that he’s a villain – a pirate, a scoundrel, a thief. People will dislike him for reasons as petty as him being gifted, or blue-eyed-and-blond. Some might even hold a grudge because of his sarcasm, his biting remarks. Valerian doesn’t actually care. His heart isn’t big enough to cater to everyone, just those who have made an impact in his life. So he reserves his hostility for those who pose a threat to him, or to the few who he cares about.[break][break]
However, when brought to that state, Valerian does not forgive a wrong made. But clings to grudges, his anger and hurt. His mind is stubborn, difficult to change.[break][break]

He's not the dashing rogue of a cliched romantic plotline. Not the type to charm a pretty face, or whisk them away on some daring adventure of danger and lust. Actually, Valerian doesn't really even flirt. Being almost apathetic when it comes to attachments of the heart, his heart. It isn't that he doesn't feel attraction towards women, but more that he doesn't make love a priority. Until given a reason otherwise, practicing with grimoires and target-practice is more gratifying to him.[break][break]
He's quite tall. Square of jaw. And no-one has eyes bluer than his. So, it's not exactly strange to Valerian to notice eyes looking his way. He just doesn't usually care enough to acknowledge it.
